Bruno and Piggy at the 2013 Fiesta Medal Unveiling to help cats and dogs in King William and Lavaca, San Antonio, TexasThe Cannoli Fund for Dogs and Cats‘ Fiesta 2013 Medal Art Unveiling Party was a huge success. The event, held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at The Friendly Spot in Southtown, raised $920 to benefit spay/neuter and medical services for cats and dogs living in the King William and Lavaca neighborhoods of San Antonio. The well-attended event featured a raffle with prizes donated by Blue Star Brewing Company, Bark, The Friendly Spot Ice House, Ibelise Photography, Kouture Koncepts, L.E.A. of Organization, Makeup by Bianca, Pig Liquors, Stonebridge Stained Glass, Studio J The Salon and Spa, and Villa Finale.

This year’s medal artist was Lavaca resident Thomas Dreyer. The cat medal features a close-up of the Fund’s namesake, Cannoli, while the dog medal stars Bruno, a large Rhodesian Ridgeback mix rescue and Lavaca resident. Each medal, made of enamel and metal, hangs from a tri-colored ribbon and includes the legend “Spay or neuter your pet,” the central tenet of The Cannoli Fund’s mission.

Medals can be purchased for $8 in The Cannoli Fund’s Medal Shop. They will also be sold at the Fund’s third annual giant yard sale, Clutter for Cannoli, on March 23, 8 am – 3 pm; at neighborhood outlets including the Villa Finale Gift Shop, Clothesline Cleaners, and Pig Liquors; and at Pin Pandemonium at Fiesta Fiesta and the King William Fair. All proceeds of medal sales benefit the Fund’s programs for cats and dogs living in the King William and Lavaca neighborhoods.
