Help us change the lives of King William and Lavaca pets

Your donation goes a long way

Your donation helps not only cats and dogs, but often also relieves the stress of our neighbors who want to help an animal in crisis, but can’t without access to resources. And because our organization is all-volunteer run, and we do the majority of things ourselves in-house, virtually every penny you give goes to changing the lives of pets in need.

Our free programs for cats and dogs exist thanks to the generous support of our friends and neighbors. Help us change the lives of Southtown cats and dogs with a direct tax-deductible gift to our nonprofit. We will receive 100% of your donation as we are charged no fees by accepting gifts through PayPal giving.

Making the neighborhood a better place for people and pets

One of the best things about our neighborhoods is their diversity – from long-time residents to recent arrivals, native San Antonians to new Texans, the very young to the long-retired – neighbors coming together to help San Antonio pets. Some neighbors reach out for financial assistance to help animals in their care, and many come to us for advice and assistance in helping or spaying and neutering feral cats or stray dogs.

Our free programs include our Community Cat Carpool, which shuttles groups of outdoor cats to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated; Cannoli’s Kitchen monthly pet food delivery; Cannolicare grants for essential and often life-saving veterinary care; Spay/Neuter/Vaccinations reimbursement program, and more. A donation to The Cannoli Fund helps not only cats and dogs, but often also relieves the stress of our neighbors who want to help an animal in crisis, but need access to resources.

Help us help neighbors forever change the lives of animals in need – donate now! Thank you in advance for your support.

pet microchip scanner

Pet Microchip Scanner Available to Help Get Pets Home

pet microchip scanner

Found a cat or dog in our Southtown service area that needs to be scanned for a microchip? The Cannoli Fund has a universal pet microchip scanner for use by neighbors, business owners, and their employees in King William and Lavaca who find animals. Message us via our Facebook page, email us through this website’s contact page, or call 210-380-5745.

If the pet is microchipped: Visit AAHA’s Pet Microchip Lookup and enter the microchip number. This will tell you which company produced the microchip. Next, call the company who will contact the pet’s owner. If the microchip hasn’t been registered, or if the contact information isn’t up-to-date, many companies can tell you what clinic, breeder, or rescue organization originally implanted the chip. Whoever gave the pet the chip may have records of contact information for its owner.

By law, all San Antonio pets are required to have a microchip as a permanent form of ID. Don’t forget to update your pet’s chip information on the company’s website each time you move or if you change your phone number or email address.

While microchips are helpful in ensuring lost animals are returned to owners, pets should wear a collar and identification tags all the time. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for someone to reach you. Wearing tags is also a sign a pet probably has an owner. Good Samaritans are more likely to stop for a lost pet wearing a tag.

Free Microchips for San Antonio Dogs and Cats

The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services is offering free microchips to cats and dogs living in San Antonio. Appointments are required and two pets may be scheduled per appointment. Those outside the city may have their pet chipped for $5.

Cannoli’s Canteen Program Provides Pet Water Bowls

Pets need access to water at all times, even more so during exercise and in high temperatures! Cannoli’s Canteen water stations for pets help make walking in the south Texas heat a bit easier for dogs, who are susceptible to heat exhaustion and dehydration, just like humans. We provide water bowls (and replacement bowls) free to households in our King William and Lavaca service area.

Cannoli’s Canteen will provide any household or business within our service area a FREE large colorful plastic water bowl. The bowl should be placed in the right of way in front of your property (preferably along the sidewalk) and kept full of clean drinking water in order for passing pets to take a drink. Shaded areas are best. The bowls provided for the Cannoli’s Canteen program are large and deep so the water won’t evaporate as quickly.

To request a free pet water bowl, please fill out the form below. We’ll leave one on your porch a few days after your request.

If you’ve participated previously but need a new bowl, we’re happy to provide one. Thank you for helping make our neighborhoods more pet friendly!

Buy and Sell on eBay and Support The Cannoli Fund for Dogs and Cats

Buy and sell items on eBay to benefit The Cannoli Fund

eBay for Charity The Cannoli FundThere’s an easy way to support The Cannoli Fund’s programs for Southtown dogs and cats. We’re registered with eBay for Charity and sell items to raise funds to further our mission. Anyone can list an item and donate between 10 – 100% of the final sales price to The Cannoli Fund! This has an additional benefit: items listed through the eBay for Charity program sell for more on average than similar items.

Thanks to the PayPal Giving Fund, which processes eBay for Charity transactions, 100% of every contribution made through eBay for Charity reaches us. We do not pay any fees.

Visit The Cannoli Fund’s eBay for Charity page and add it as a favorite charity. Now, when listing an item, choose The Cannoli Fund on the item listing form and choose what percentage of your sales price you would like to donate. You don’t have to do anything else. When the item sells, the percentage of the final sales price you chose will be sent to us! Anyone can also make a direct donation to our nonprofit from our eBay for Charity page.

If you have any questions about selling to benefit The Cannoli Fund, visit our page or send us a note through the contact page.

Fiesta medals feature neighborhood pets

Our 2020 Fiesta medals feature two pets whose lives have been changed thanks to our neighbors compassion and The Cannoli Fund’s free programs. Archie, rescued in King William, stars on our dog medal. We covered his vetting and he now has a wonderful mom who dotes on him – making sure he’s always wearing his signature bow tie. Look for him taking a stroll through the neighborhood. Foxy, a community cat, struts down his Lavaca street on his medal. He took our free Community Cat Carpool to be neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped several years ago. His caretakers receive monthly cat food deliveries to make sure he, and his fellow “fixed” cat friends, are always well fed. Foxy is well-known in Lavaca for being both very handsome and full of charisma! You can catch him lounging outside his home or hanging around outside a neighborhood eatery. Support our continuing work and buy now in our Fiesta Medal Shop or on eBay. Some of our past years’ medals and lapel pins are also available.
