Free Spay Neuter in 17 San Antonio Zip Codes

The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care ServicesFREE spay neuter grant for 2022-2023 is very popular and waits are long. Make an appointment as soon as possible.

This grant provides FREE spay/neuter for cats and dogs living in these San Antonio zips: 78201,  78202,  78203,  78204,  78207,  78210,  78211,  78213,  78214,  78220,  78221,  78223,  78225,  78227,  78228,  78237  and  78242. Both feral/community and pet cats are eligible.

Dogs and cats must be at least eight weeks old and weigh at least two pounds at the time of surgery. Bring proof of address (driver’s license, pay stub, utility bill, etc) on the morning of your pet’s appointment.

Pets must be vaccinated for rabies. Rabies vaccines can be given for $5 to $20. If your pet had a rabies shot in the past year, bring the official vaccination certificate signed by a veterinarian.

The San Antonio clinics participating are Pet Shotz (across from the Zoo), The Animal Defense League (ADL), and the San Antonio Humane Society. SNIPSA is offering a reduced cost spay/neuter which includes DHPP/FVRCP and rabies vaccines (if age appropriate), and a microchip for $75.

The San Antonio Humane Society at 4804 Fredericksburg Road prefers online appointments. A $10 deposit at scheduling is required for zip code grant appointments to confirm and hold your appointment. The full refund of $10 will be returned to the original credit or debit card after your appointment. A rabies vaccine and microchip are $7 each plus tax (due at the time of surgery). Call 210-735-1004 to make an appointment at Pet Shotz (across from the Zoo in Brackenridge Park). If you need transportation to and from this clinic, VIA is offering a free one day pass to get to and from PetShotz when participating in this free spay/neuter program. Call VIA Representative Gloria Boysen at 210-362-2761 for information about the free one-day bus pass. This program is only for small caged animals and their owners due to VIA’s Comfort and Safety Rule. Make sure to call at least one week before your small pet’s spay/neuter appointment.

The Animal Defense League (ADL) requires a $25 deposit to schedule this free surgery. All pets must be vaccinated with DHPP/FVRCP at least 2 weeks before surgery. Feral and Community Cats
As of Summer 2022, Animal Care Services (ACS) has free spay neuter, ear-tipping, and vaccinations for all San Antonio community cats. The cats are “fixed” at ACS’ clinic at 4710 State Highway 151. Two cat maximum per day. You must make an appointment online to have a ACS Community Cat Program (CCP) voucher for each cat emailed to you. Cats must be in wire transport carriers or humane traps, not in pet carriers. Each cat’s left ear will be “tipped” to mark them as sterilized. Free Microchips
The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services is also offering free microchips to San Antonio dogs and cats by appointment. The microchips include free lifetime registration.
