The Cannoli Fund has a universal pet microchip scanner for use by those in King William, Lavaca and surrounding neighborhoods,<\/a> who find animals. Message us via our Facebook page<\/a>, email us through this website’s contact page<\/a>, or call 210-380-5745.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the pet is microchipped: Visit AAHA’s Pet Microchip Lookup<\/a> and enter the microchip number. This will tell you which company produced the microchip. Next, call the company who will contact the pet’s owner. If the microchip hasn’t been registered, or if the contact information isn’t up-to-date, many companies can tell you what clinic, breeder, or rescue organization originally implanted the chip. Whoever gave the pet the chip may have records of contact information for its owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By law, all San Antonio pets are required to have a microchip as a permanent form of ID. Don’t forget to update your pet’s chip information on the company’s website each time you move or if you change your phone number or email address. See info below on how to get your pet a free microchip at ACS (Animal Care Services).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While microchips are helpful in ensuring lost animals are returned to owners, pets should wear a collar and identification tags all the time. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for someone to reach you. Wearing tags is also a sign a pet probably has an owner. Good Samaritans are more likely to stop for a lost pet wearing a tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free Microchips for San Antonio Dogs and Cats<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services is offering free microchips<\/a> to cats and dogs living in San Antonio. Appointments<\/a> are required and two pets may be scheduled per appointment. The appointments are available on most Saturdays starting at 8:30 am – 10:15 am and at 11:30 am during the week. Those outside the city, or living in incorporated cities inside Bexar county (like Leon Valley, Kirby, Castle Hills, etc) may have their pet chipped for only $5.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
